Pleasanton has always been the kind of community that thrives on the success of small businesses. Some may say it is a place that encourages dreams and this is evident in the creative entrepreneurial dream of Dirk Christiansen, the owner of Studio Seven Arts.
Studio Seven Arts is nestled in the heart of downtown Pleasanton, serving as an artistic haven for all those who enjoy original paintings, sculptures, glass designs, and custom framing. We have had the pleasure of talking with Dirk Christiansen and learning about his creative vision and the contributions he has made to Pleasanton’s artistic community.
Christiansen started out working for a technology company, but his dream of pursuing his love of art took shape when he took over an old art store that focused on corporate art. He transformed that space into a multidimensional reflection of Pleasanton’s rich creative community, including, but certainly not limited to: sculptures, glass design, a Disney gallery, jewelry and commercial works, to name just a few.
Christiansen attributes his past experiences in cybersecurity and marketing to his ability to read, not only customer interests, but also the trending and traditional artistic interests of the community. He wants everyone to have the opportunity to view artistic expression as a natural and vital part of life. He told us that was why one of the first things he did when he opened Studio Seven Arts, was to open up the storefront, allowing all who passed by, to see the art being created and the art on display.
Christiansen believes every piece of art mirrors the artist who created it. Similarly, he told us, “A business should reflect the community,” which is why he showcases both the art and artist. Many leading artists are and have been featured at Studio Seven Arts, where art takes on many forms, from fine art painting to handcrafted jewelry and crafts.
Making Studio Seven Arts the eclectic gallery it is today required a flexible vision of how to best serve the Pleasanton community, but Christiansen made it happen and it paid off. Today Studio Seven Arts has become one of the largest galleries in the Bay Area. His dream and vision of creating a place where the diverse artistic tastes and interests of the community are shared, has been realized.
